WHERE Incident Happened: 25739 State Hwy 58

What happened: On Saturday, June 20th at approximately 7:15am, Emergency responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash at the address of 25739 State Highway 58.The investigation determined that Nathan Haydenburg, 30, of Gotham, was traveling northbound on State Highway 58 at a high rate of speed, according to a witness. Haydenburg lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and rolled over multiple times before striking a nearby residence. First responders arrived on scene and were able to extricate Haydenburg from the vehicle. He was transported by Richland EMS to Richland Hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Following the investigation, Haydenburg was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), 3rd Offense.

The juvenile involved in this incident has been released from the hospital. A thorough investigation has been completed and the driver of the truck is not being ticketed or charged in the case.

RICHLAND COUNTY, WI — On June 2, 2026, emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of County Highway RC and Raymond Lane for a report of a vehicle versus bicycle crash. Preliminary investigation indicates that a truck traveling eastbound on County Hwy RC attempted to navigate around a juvenile who was riding a bicycle, also traveling eastbound on Hwy RC. The juvenile veered into the lane of traffic and the operator of the truck was unable to avoid the bicycle. The juvenile sustained injuries as a result of the collision. Emergency medical personnel provided treatment at the scene before transporting the juvenile to Richland Hospital. Due to the severity of the injuries, the juvenile was subsequently transported by Med Flight to the University of Wisconsin Hospital for further medical care. The crash remains under investigation. No additional information is being released at this time.

WHO Involved: Kristina Bailey, 23, of Richland Center, WI

WHERE Incident Happened: State Highway 56 and County Highway I

What happened: On 05/27/2026 at around 11:47 PM, the driver of a vehicle- Kristina Bailey, 23, of Richland Center was traveling east bound on State Highway 56 near County Highway I. While traveling down a hill on Hwy 56, Bailey lost control and the vehicle entered the ditch line. The vehicle then struck the hillside causing the vehicle to rollover. Richland County Deputies responded to the scene along with Richland Fire and Richland EMS. When Deputies arrived, they located the driver trapped inside the vehicle but determined she was conscious and alert. Richland Fire was able to extricate the driver from the vehicle where Richland EMS provided care for her injuries. Bailey was then transport by EMS to the Richland Hospital. The roadway was cleared of any debris and the vehicle was towed from the scene due to its damage.

WHERE Incident Happened: State Highway 60 at Byrds Creek in Richland County

What happened: On 4-17-26, Richland County Dispatch received a report of a domestic disturbance between two brothers at a residence on State Highway 60 near Byrds Creek. The caller reported hearing yelling between what sounded like two males, followed by two gunshots.
Richland County Deputies responded to the scene and made contact with one of the occupants. The male, identified as Bradley Carlson, exited the home and began yelling at deputies, telling them to leave the property. Deputies attempted to get Bradley to comply with commands and come toward them, but he refused.
Bradley informed deputies that he and his brother were inside the home but would not provide further details about what had occurred. He then went back inside and called 911, stating that he was not coming out and that if deputies wanted him, they would have to force entry. The condition of his brother could not be determined at that time.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Muscoda Police Department responded to assist. Fire departments were requested to shut down State Highway 60, and EMS was placed on standby. The Richland County SRT and Drone Team also responded to the scene.
With assistance from 911 dispatchers from both counties and a Richland County Sheriff’s Office negotiator, Bradley eventually exited the home and was taken into custody by the Richland County SRT. It was later determined that no one had been shot during the disturbance; however, a large number of firearms were located inside the residence.

What happened: Sheriff Clay Porter reports that the Richland County Sheriff’s Office was assigned two CyberTips as an affiliated member of the Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce. On January 28th, 2026, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office completed a search warrant at a residence as a result of this investigation. Deputies took into custody Kaelin M. Lemay, 24 years old from Lone Rock for one count of Exposing a Child to Harmful Material. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this investigation by Wisconsin ICAC Taskforce, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI)-Digital Evidence Unit (DEU), Richland Center Police Department, and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Office has completed its investigation into the residential explosion that occurred at a home in Richland County. Following an investigation conducted in coordination with fire officials, investigators have found no evidence of foul play associated with the incident. Based on the findings, the explosion is believed to have been caused by a gas leak within the residence. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the responding emergency personnel for their assistance throughout the investigation.

Our thoughts remain with the individuals and families affected by this incident. Safety remains a top priority, and residents are reminded to ensure gas lines and appliances are properly maintained and to report any suspected gas leaks immediately to the appropriate authorities.

On 01/24/26, at approximately 8:26pm, Richland County Dispatch began receiving reports of a loud explosion near the Village of Gotham in rural Richland County. Deputies responded to the area and were updated with information that a homeowner on Needle Lane believed their neighbor’s house was severely damaged from an unknown blast. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a residence on Needle Lane that was completely destroyed from an apparent explosion. Two individuals, Richard and Mary Oman were inside the home during the explosion and were located nearby attempting to stay warm inside a vehicle. Lone Rock Fire, Lone Rock EMS, and Richland EMS all responded to the scene to assist. The individuals were assessed on scene and transported to the Richland Hospital for significant burns and injuries. They were later taken to UW-Madison Hospital via Med Flight, utilizing Richland Fire to create a landing zone at the Richland Hospital.

Statements were quickly gathered from Richard and Mary Oman prior to being transported to the hospital. Mary stated that they believed they smelled “gas” around 5:00pm within the house, but didn’t look into it any further. Richard stated that after the explosion occurred, he located Mary who was trapped underneath debris and was able to free her. Richard and Mary went to a nearby vehicle to stay warm until they were located.

At this time, it is believed that no foul play contributed to the explosion, but the investigation is ongoing.

WHERE Incident Happened: County Highway N just East of Richland Center

What happened: On January 16th, 2026 at approximately 5:47pm, Richland County Dispatch received a call regarding a car crash with possible injury near the address of 25272 County Highway N. Richland County Deputies, Richland Fire, Richland EMS, Richland Center Police Department, and State Patrol responded to this crash. An investigation of this crash was conducted by Richland County Deputies along with Wisconsin State Patrol. The result of this investigation led law enforcement to believe that the crash involved 2 drivers by the names of John Farrell and Cayden Koehn who were both the sole occupants of their vehicles. Verbal statements and physical evidence on the scene indicated that Cayden Koehn was operating a sedan down a steep, ice covered hill on Highway N while John Farrell was operating a Richland County plow truck up the same hill. Cayden Koehn’s vehicle appeared to have lost control while traveling down the hill and struck the plow head on. This crash resulted in Cayden Kohen sustaining serious injuries and John Farrell was not injured. Richland Fire and Richland EMS worked diligently to remove Cayden Koehn from his vehicle and took live saving measures before transporting him to the Richland Center Hospital. The use of alcohol or drugs are not suspected at this time, however John Farrell did agree to take multiple drug and alcohol screenings which were conducted shortly after the crash. State Patrol did conduct a crash reconstruction of the scene along with an inspection of the Richland County truck. Cayden Koehn was transported to UW Madison to be treated for his injuries.

WHERE Incident Happened: US Hwy 80 and Industrial Dr

What happened: On 01/16/26, at approximately 4:40pm, law enforcement was dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle accident with injuries near US Highway 80 and Industrial Drive. While en route, Richland County Dispatch advised that CPR was in progress. Life-saving measures were continued until Richland EMS arrived and assumed care. Richland EMS transported an adult male to Richland Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The individual was identified as Richard A. Schulze. Preliminary investigation indicated that Schulze was traveling northbound on US Highway 80 when he lost control of his vehicle due to snow-covered road conditions, causing the vehicle to spin into oncoming traffic. Schulze’s vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by another vehicle operated by Thomas Nachtigal. Nachtigal and his juvenile passenger were evaluated by EMS. The remaining parties involved were treated by EMS and transported to Richland Hospital by a third party. All parties involved were fully cooperative. US Hwy 80 was closed for approximately 3.5 hours, while Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction Team came in to investigate. Vehicles were removed by Wegner’s Auto Service. The crash remains under investigation.

WHERE Incident Happened: COUNTY HWY E AT TOWN HALL DR

What happened:On 12-09-25 Richland County Dispatch received a call about a single vehicle crash on Town Hall Drive with entrapment. Deputies arrived on scene and located the driver, Raven Johnson, and passenger, Mariah Mccormick, in the vehicle against a utility pole. The vehicle had been traveling north bound on County Hwy E, the operator lost control of the vehicle, and left the roadway near Town Hall Drive. The vehicle crashed into a utility pole causing several power lines to fall to the ground. Deputies aided the occupants until Muscoda EMS and Fire arrived on scene. Both occupants where extricated from the vehicle and transported to the Richland Center Hospital for medical care. During the investigation signs of impairment where observed by the responding Deputies. As a result of the investigation Raven Johnson was arrested and cited for OWI 1st Causing Injury, Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle, and Driving to Fast for Conditions.
