WHERE Incident Happened: On State Hwy 58 at Smyth Hollow Rd
What happened:
On August 27, 2026, deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Highway 58 near Smyth Hollow Road for a reported two-vehicle head-on collision.
Two juveniles were occupants of one vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle was conscious and alert but reported neck and rib pain. Cazenovia EMS transported the driver to The Richland Hospital for evaluation. The two juveniles were evaluated by EMS and later transported to The Richland Hospital by their parents.
The preliminary investigation indicates the southbound vehicle entered the northbound lane while negotiating a curve, lost control, and struck the second vehicle.
State Highway 58 was closed between Lost Hollow Drive and Lloyd for approximately 30 minutes while emergency personnel responded to the scene.

Charges: Juvenile driver to be cited for Operating left of center-line
