Search Warrant Leads to Drugs, Paraphernalia, and Money Seized

On 05-21-2019, the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force along with the Richland County Special Response Team executed a drug related search warrant at the address of 28875 McNurlin Street in the Village of Gotham. A search of the residence was conducted and officers located methamphetamine, marijuana, and U.S. currency. Also located were numerous items of drug paraphernalia to include: used syringes, glass smoking devices, a digital scale, a drug ledger/log, and plastic baggies with residue. The suspect, William C. Giddings was arrested and transported to the Richland County Jail on numerous drug related offenses. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious/drug activity to Richland County Crime Stoppers at 647-Clue(2583).

Other agencies involved were the Richland Center Police Department and Lone Rock EMS.

As a result of the investigation Giddings was placed under arrest for the following tentative charges:

  • Possession with intent to deliver THC
  • Maintaining a drug trafficking place
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting or obstructing an officer

Search of vehicle reveals large amount of Methamphetamine

On March 21st, 2018 at approximately 2:52 PM a deputy observed a vehicle traveling west bound on U.S Hwy 14 just east of Richland Center. The vehicle was followed into the Goodwill parking lot where three occupants exited the vehicle. The deputy made contact with Clarke the driver of the vehicle while the two passengers fled on foot north behind Goodwill. Clarke was detained at the scene and additional officers were requested. Responding officers apprehended Sander and Harvell who were running in a field east of Goodwill. Both subjects were taken into custody and the vehicle was towed to Richland County impound due to false plates on the vehicle and being unable to locate an owner. Clarke was informed he would be receiving traffic citations for several violations, and he was then released. During an inventory of the vehicle deputies discovered over 25 grams of methamphetamine, 1 gram of MDMA, digital scales, $398.00 in cash and other various items of drug paraphernalia.

Joshua D. Clark is wanted on several felony drug charges. A $500 cash reward is being offered for information that leads to his arrest. If you have information please call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 608-647-2106 or Crime Stoppers at 608-647-CLUE.

Police Department Concludes Arson Investigation

The Richland Center Police Department and the Richland Center Fire Department have concluded their investigation into a fire that occurred at the Dr. Killian Meyer building in Krouskop Park on January 17th, 2016.

According to Chief of Police Lucas Clements, at approximately 2:23 pm on January 17, 2016, police and fire were dispatched to the Dr. Killian Meyer building located in Krouskop Park for a report of a fire. Officers from both departments responded and initial information indicated that a fire had occurred inside both the men’s and women’s restrooms of the building.

According to Fire Chief Bob Bindl, responders found that the interior of the bathrooms had experienced a fire which had self-extinguished, with the majority of the damage occurring in the men’s restroom. Fire Chief Bob Bindl noted the fire caused extensive smoke damage throughout the building.

According to City of Richland Center Parks, Recreation, and Grounds Director Shane Stibbe, who has been working with insurance adjusters throughout the past week, preliminary estimates concerning damage caused by the fire are at a minimum of approximately $70,000.

Chief Clements reports that on January 20th, 2016 at approximately 7:56 pm an Officer with the Richland Center Police Department received a tip with information concerning the fire and passed the information on to the investigating Officer.

Following up on this tip, the investigating Officer, through interviews and timely police work, found that three juveniles were responsible for setting the fire in the Dr. Killian Meyer building on January 17th. The juveniles, two from Richland Center and one from Lone Rock, have been referred to Richland County Health and Human Services for the crime of arson.

Assisting with the investigation were members of the Richland Center Fire Department, City Parks, Recreation and Grounds Department, and Richland County Health and Human Services.

Chief Clements states, “This is a prime example of how our community stepped up, took pride in what we have as a community, and provided information with the departments listed above to help solve an investigation and ultimately make our community safer.”

Drug Task Force Executes Search Warrant – 3 Arrested

On 12/05/15 members of the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence at 352 E Exchange St in the Village of Lone Rock. While performing the search warrant, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, Methadone, Morphine, as well a quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine was located. Three suspects were located during the search and were arrested. Leanne K. Rundle, age 33 of Lone Rock, was charged with Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic. Sean T. Williams, age 37 of Lone Rock was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Toney J. Crook, age 26 of Lone Rock, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Bail Jumping. Child Protective Services was contacted in regards to children living at the residence. Five dogs were also located and removed from the residence due to poor living conditions. Investigations are still ongoing at this time. Members of the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force and the Richland County DA Office has assisted in this investigation.

Charges Filed in Drug Case

Richland Center Police Chief John Annear and Richland County Sheriff Jim Bindl report that charges have been filed by the Richland County District Attorney’s Office on three subjects stemming from multiple investigations conducted by the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force.

William S. Johnson, 25, of Richland Center was charged with one count of Delivery of a schedule I drug, a class E felony.

Austin J. Von Behren, 22, of Hillpoint was charged with one count of Manufacture/Deliver Non-Narcotics, a class H felony, as well as four counts of misdemeanor Bail Jumping.

Derek M. Pederson, 27, of Boscobel was charged with two counts of Falsely Presenting a Non-Controlled (as a controlled substance), a class I felony. [Read more…]

Crime Stoppers Easter Egg Hunt
