Richland County Sheriff Darrell Berglin reports two individuals were taken into custody as a result of an investigation that began on Sunday July 25, 2010 of criminal damage to property and theft from a motor vehicle located on property in Akan township. During the investigation it was reported to the officer there may be two stolen ATV’s stored on the property.
According to Berglin, deputies from the Crawford County and Richland County Sheriff’s department along with the Richland County K-9 executed a search warrant at 7:40a this morning, Thursday July 29, in the village of Mt.Zion in Crawford County.
Sheriff Berglin stated two individuals were taken into custody. Arrested were William S Johnson, age 21 of Mt. Zion charged with 1 felony county of possession of stolen property, 1 count of misdemeanor theft, and 1 count of misdemeanor of criminal damage to property. Also charged was Wade Johnson, age 22 of Mt. Zion with 1 count of felony possession of stolen property. Investigation showed that both subjects were storing 2 stolen ATV’s in a pole barn in rural Akan township which were taken out of Crawford County. The ATV units were valued at $4,000.00 each.
Berglin stated the investigation is continuing and that both individuals remain in the Richland County Jail on a $ 500.00 cash bond.
