Chief John Annear of the Richland Center Police Department reports that an investigation conducted by the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force has culminated in the arrest of a Richland Center woman for illegal distribution of prescription medication. Marion D. McNamer, 37, was arrested for Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place and three counts of Delivery of Vicodin. All charges have been forwarded to the Richland County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Officer Lucas Clements, of the Richland-Iowa-Grant Drug Task Force stated that prescription medications, when not dispensed and used properly, are as dangerous as any “street” drug. Officer Clements added that the illegal diversion of prescription medications, especially highly addictive and widely abused narcotics like Vicodin, has continued to be a focus of the Drug Task Force as it has been proven to be a contributing factor to the area’s heroin problem.
