WHERE Incident Happened: County Highway N just East of Richland Center
What happened: On January 16th, 2026 at approximately 5:47pm, Richland County Dispatch received a call regarding a car crash with possible injury near the address of 25272 County Highway N. Richland County Deputies, Richland Fire, Richland EMS, Richland Center Police Department, and State Patrol responded to this crash. An investigation of this crash was conducted by Richland County Deputies along with Wisconsin State Patrol. The result of this investigation led law enforcement to believe that the crash involved 2 drivers by the names of John Farrell and Cayden Koehn who were both the sole occupants of their vehicles. Verbal statements and physical evidence on the scene indicated that Cayden Koehn was operating a sedan down a steep, ice covered hill on Highway N while John Farrell was operating a Richland County plow truck up the same hill. Cayden Koehn’s vehicle appeared to have lost control while traveling down the hill and struck the plow head on. This crash resulted in Cayden Kohen sustaining serious injuries and John Farrell was not injured. Richland Fire and Richland EMS worked diligently to remove Cayden Koehn from his vehicle and took live saving measures before transporting him to the Richland Center Hospital. The use of alcohol or drugs are not suspected at this time, however John Farrell did agree to take multiple drug and alcohol screenings which were conducted shortly after the crash. State Patrol did conduct a crash reconstruction of the scene along with an inspection of the Richland County truck. Cayden Koehn was transported to UW Madison to be treated for his injuries.

Charges: After an investigation was conducted, no arrests were made and no charges will be filed at this time.
