Local law enforcement officials are praising their K-9 Titan today after Titan located a missing Richland Center High School student late Thursday (yesterday) afternoon.
According to Richland Center Police Chief John Annear a Richland Center High School student reportedly left school property while waiting for his mother to pick him up. After receiving information related to the student school officials became concerned about the students welfare and called the Richland Center Police Department.
Upon arriving on the scene RCPD officers called for assistance in locating the missing student. The Richland County Sheriff Department was contacted and Sgt. Dane Kanable and K-9 officer Titan responded to the scene. Richland Center fire personnel were also called to the scene.
During a search, sheriff’s K-9 officer Titan was able to locate the student in a wooded area. Richland emergency medical personnel were then summoned to the scene and the student was transported to the Richland Hospital.
According to Richland County Sheriff Darrell Berglin the parents of the student and Richland School District officials have expressed their thanks for the prompt response to the incident by law enforcement, Titan, the Richland County ambulance service and the Richland Center Fire Department.
