Richland County Sheriff’s authorities are reporting that Kathleen R. Fargen, 59, of Spring Green, WI was killed in a traffic crash at the intersection of US Highway 14 and State Highway 58 about 1.5 miles east of Richland Center Friday afternoon. (September 30, 2011)
Richland County Sheriff Darrell Berglin said that Fargen was operating her 2003 Buick making a series of U-turns at the intersection when her vehicle was struck by a fully loaded westbound milk truck operated by Terry M. Bollig, 60, of Oregon, WI.
Berglin said the crash occurred at about 12:38pm. Sheriff’s officials say that Fargen had been traveling southbound on State Hwy 58 and stopped at the stop sign at US Hwy 14. Fargen then made a U-turn intending to go back northbound on State Hwy 58 and then was attempting a second consecutive U-turn at the intersection when her driver’s side door was struck by the milk truck.
Berglin said the victim was pinned in her car after the crash and was extricated by fire personnel. She was then transported to Richland Hospital.
Assisting the sheriff and his deputies at the scene of the crash were personnel of the Richland Center Police Department, Richland County Ambulance Service and Richland Center Fire Department.
According to Sheriff Berglin the traffic crash remains under investigation.
